Just peeped this.  Pretty tight.  I'm loving the direction Mos Def is going in.  He is becoming a mini Harry Belafonte of this generation.Share

MOS COVERS ACCORDION

Posted: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 | | Labels: , , , 0 comments

Doom and Mos need to just put out an album together but that will never happen.  Side note, I love how rappers form "supergroups" yet never release an album, i.e. CRS (Lupe, Kanye, Pharrell), Mos + Jay Elect + Curren$y, and yes even Jay-Z, Ja Rule, and DMX (it hurt writing that last one).  The only ones who have really done it is Slaughterhouse and no one really asked for that.  Message to Mos and Doom, we are asking for it.  Ok go.

GRAMMY SNUB

2010 Grammy: Best Rap Album
Common – Universal Mind Control
Eminem – Relapse
Flo Rida – R.O.O.T.S.
Mos Def – The Ecstatic
Q-Tip – The Renaissance

Mos should have won.  I can't stand Eminem anymore.  His music always sounds the same and Dre even gives him simplistic beats that calls into question Dre's passion producing music.  Personally, I think Dre works out too much.  Once you take out the Grammy's bias towards Eminem because he is white and the fact Eminem sales a ton of records because he is white, Mos is the only album on there that could have won.  Then again, Flo Rida would have somehow won.  Damn you elusive Flo Rida.  Stick to smashing oranges.

"HISTORY" & "CASA BEY" (LIVE) MP3

Download Links: "HISTORY" & "CASA BEY"

Next to Dame Dash's DD172 Studios, The Jimmy Fallon Show is becoming the premier creative outlet for Hip-Hop at the moment. All of this can be be attributed to the house band, The Roots, who like their stage shows, always try something different to amaze and dumbfound the audience. These two downloads are live streams from two Mos Def performances. The Ecstatic was probably my favorite album of 09 and to see Mos finally getting television exposure for this project is great. To see The Roots handle "Casa Bey" with such ease was phenomenal to experience as a producer. Casa Bey is a chopped up sample that is schizophrenic in its arrangement. "History" with two live singers and the fact we get to here a Dilla sample loop track played by a live band was like chicken soup for the soul. Below you can download the whole Late Night with the Roots Mixtape.

Here is the new video for "History" to boot.

So I post the Madvillian and leave the house for a few hours to go pick my friend up from the airport and when I get home I find this! The quality of music being put out recently has prompted me to create artwork for my posts. I took too long to make this image and the Madvillain banner but I digress. Here is a new Reflection Eternal track that features J. Cole, Mos Def, and Jay Electronica. Jay's verse is cut off because it's a radio rip but you still will enjoy it!
