Freeway - African Drums

Yo I gotta make beats like this all day!  This personifies what I'm trying to do with production.  Jake One is so consistent lately.Share

Finally Freeway makes a song that I can endorse.  Usually his gender politics have been too much lately but he drops a few gems on here.  Also, the packaging of his new album is great.  In order to sell CD's or vinyl, you must make it an experience.  Give them a collectible a la the purple tape or iLL-Lit's Gentleman's Kool-Aid packaging.  Peep the video.  Jake One is destroying me right now.  Every beat he makes is perfect recently.

MUSIC ANALYSIS :: THE BEAT MADE ME DO IT

I wasn't expecting to ever hear a mixtape like this let alone a mixtape by Freeway like this!  Any music lover must understand the precision of Jake One's sample selection.  It's phenomenal.  Freeway's rhymes are a bit rushed, you can tell by the subject matter.  Far too often he has to resort to guns and misogyny (he pretty much does that anyway) and it comes off as if he just wrote the rhyme before he spit'em.  The star though is Jake One and his genius to play samples with no beat was a great idea.  Check it out.
